What is carbon steel plate

1. Basic composition of carbon steel plate

Carbon steel plate is a metal material composed of iron and carbon and several other elements. Normally, the carbon content of carbon steel plates does not exceed 2.1%, and also contains small amounts of sulfur, phosphorus, molybdenum, chromium and other elements. Because carbon steel plates have different compositions, they have different physical and mechanical properties.

2. Classification of carbon steel plates

1. Ordinary carbon steel plates: The carbon content of ordinary carbon steel plates is between 0.15% and 0.65%, and they are called low carbon steel plates, medium carbon steel plates and high carbon steel plates respectively. Low carbon steel plates are mainly used to manufacture structural parts such as automobiles and ships; medium carbon steel plates are mainly used to manufacture machine shafts, brake drums and other components; high carbon steel plates are mainly used to manufacture blades, hammer heads and other components of engineering machinery.

2. Alloy steel plate: Alloy steel plate is formed by adding some alloy elements such as cobalt, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, etc. to ordinary carbon steel plate. Alloy steel plates have higher strength, toughness and wear resistance than ordinary carbon steel plates and are widely used in high-speed railways, shipbuilding, aerospace, petrochemical and other fields.

3. Stainless steel plate: Stainless steel plate is mainly composed of iron, chromium, nickel and carbon, and has strong corrosion resistance and toughness. Stainless steel plates are mainly used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries.
